It’s been a wonderful 2014 and we have all launched into 2015. 2015 is filled with a lot of expectations, fears and faith. Faith will be ignited, rekindled, or destroyed; it all boils down to what you want to take out of 2015. I am so excited about this year 2015. It promises to be a great and flourishing year especially for people of faith. I know someone will wonder what I am talking about. Oil prices are crashing, the Naira is being devalued, and our economic indices have not looked so bad in a long time. There all sorts of predictions going around about Nigeria at the moment. But we will rise up to who we are as people of faith. For we walk not by sight but by faith. We see the things that are not as though they are. So even though the predictions make sense, we will look above them and draw down solutions.
Our expectation for 2015 is very important. Do we have expectations for 2015? How do we position ourselves to arrive at our desired destinations? This is not about New Year resolutions. But getting ourselves behind our desire to actually accomplishing them. So what are your aspirations and dreams for 2015? I have a few. I want Dove Eyes to become the faith program of choice across the continent of Africa through the internet. I want to finish my second book and launch it. I want my business to thrive and truly take off this year. I would like to support my husband and help my children excel in their studies and manage their lives better. I would also like to serve in my local church some more. I would like to keep up with my exercises and healthy eating. I have some wonderful habits but I would like to be really consistent this year, no breaks.
What are you hoping for in 2015? What are your aspirations? Why do we ask the question? Are we just trying to tickle your fancy or is there something we want to achieve. It is one thing to have a desire for general wellbeing for 2015 and another to have specific desires you would like to achieve. When we spell out specifics, we are throwing ourselves behind our desires. We are creating pictures our minds can work with to achieve our desires. We realize we need to put plans in place and action behind the plans to get to achieve our desires. That is why if you have not already done so, then you need to put specifics into your desires so that you can achieve them. What are the things you would you see in your life by the end of 2015 to conclude you had a great year? What would have happened by the end of 2015 that will make you feel that you have had a great year? Spell them out in detail.
Once you have spelt them out, you need to locate them in the Word of God. I have a word for you. Psalm 92:12-14 says ‘My ears are filled with the sounds of promise. Good people will prosper like palm trees, grow like tall Lebanon cedars, transplanted into God’s courtyard. They’ll grow tall in the presence of God lithe and green, virile still in old age’ . It kind of captures whatever you would want to happen in your life. Find what you want in His word and then meditate on it day and night. Pray it into your heart and mind, such that they are implanted in your mind as done. That is what I would call the positioning for entering into your dreams and aspirations.
Put actual plans in place and begin to work those plans every day. As you begin your walk to the other side of 2015, make sure you are working, evaluating and still working the plan. You must also keep your thoughts on what you’re doing and not allow yourself to be distracted. You must keep your mind on your goals. There are so many things that could happen to distract one from their dreams-circumstances, family, work schedules, all are understandable, but if we keep our eyes on the goal, then we can achieve despite the distractions.
No matter what you desire from 2015, big or small, remember you have a heavenly Father who is committed to blessing you. He loves you more than you’ll ever know. Just stay with Him and He will be right there through it all. He is faithful and will never let you down. He says in His word, ‘no one’s ever seen or heard anything quite like it-what God has arranged for those who love Him’. He also says, ‘I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out-plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for’, the 2015 you hope for.
This year has brought so much excitement into my life. It feels like a defining year for me. Where certain things I have hoped for will finally fall in place. I am watching as it unfolds. I wish you the very best that 2015 has to offer. Remember, when you wake up every morning, pray for Nigeria. Pray for the Chibok girls till they come back. Pray for our leaders. Pray for our soldiers that are routing out the Boko Haram lot. Pray for the people of Yobe, Borno and Adamawa Pray for the coming elections. Pray for the Nigerian economy. Just keep the prayers going. It will be a great year simply because we believe.
