1 Timothy 3:1-5
1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but [t]denying its power.
2 Peter 3:3,4,9
3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but [t]is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance
Revelation 13:16-17, 22:20
16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name……20 he who testifies of these things says, ‘ Surely I am coming quickly’. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
Every time I listen to the news from around the world, I remember this week’s references. I am amazed at the accuracy with which the Bible predicts the events of the last days. No day passes without one thing or the other that further authenticates the Bible predictions.
President Obama’s recent endorsement of the gay movement was a shocker to me. I don’t understand why the president of a country like the United States will make peoples sexual preferences a serious state matter. Before him, the British PM had also given an ultimatum to other nations to endorse the gay movement or cut ties with the UK. I thought it was an extreme stand simply for people sexual preferences. I thought it was a personal matter. What percentage of the world’s population are homosexuals? Why all the hula balu? It appears there is more to this gay movement than meets the eyes.
I turn around and the news from my country Nigeria is disturbing. Bombs are going off, planes are dropping into peoples’ homes, there seems to be anarchy without any controls. While all this is going on, the CBN is working on making Nigeria a cashless society where everyone buys anything with a debit or credit card. I thought that was for the Americans and Europeans, but it is becoming a reality right here in Africa.
A few weeks ago, we had a Tsunami scare along the Indian Ocean. I live in Dar Es Salaam and the ocean is right behind us. If there was to be a tsunami, we would be it’s first target. Luckily it was just a scare but it was a real scare. Since then, there have been floods, mud slides, wild fires in different parts of the world. people lost their lives, homes and means of livelihood.
What of the different world economies that have spiraled out of control. One never knows what they will hear next. People leave home in the morning and come back home without their jobs. These have become very uncertain and crazy times. Even Palestine and Israel could sign a peace deal anytime now. Who ever thought that could happen?
All these events may astound us, but God is not rattled, because He has always known these things will happen. He has even warned us ahead of the times. The question is, what am I expected to do as these events unveil around me? I have taken the stand of an ambassador. What does that mean? An ambassador is the highest ranking diplomat who represents a nation in another country. He represents the interest of his home nation in the country he is posted to. I see myself here on assignment and constantly look forward to the return of the Lord which He promised.
I plan for a good future, but cannot help but remember that He may show up before the future I am planning. I have come to understand that I am here for a purpose and look for opportunities to live that out on a daily basis, rather than focus completely on the things we all want from life-money, houses, cars, flourishing businesses and marriages, children etc. I realize that though God wants me to have these things, He wants me to be focused on heaven and represent it’s interest because it will soon become my reality. With all these things going on around the world, the trumpet Paul talked about in Thessalonians could sound at anytime.
I sincerely look forward to the sound of the trumpet. If you are a believer, you should find great comfort in the fact that some day, you will hear the trumpet sound that will mean you are home bound. Don’t be like those that think it is the figment of someone’s imagination and live life for today. Live like you understand the signs of the times. It will all be over sooner rather than later. If you are not a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ as the redeemer of your soul, please allow the happenings around you speak to your heart. He had predicted them all to very scary detail in His word long before now. Take refuge in Him because He has made that provision for you. You don’t want to be a part of what happens here after the trumpet sounds. Trust me, you don’t.
What more can I say? The coming of the Lord for His own will soon be an event in history. I find great solace in knowing that I won’t be here to read the newpapers, and watch CNN as it attempts to explain it. By then I will be with Him and like Him. What could be better?? Halleluyah I join the Apostle John to say, ‘Come Lord Jesus, Maranatha’ !!!! Ck
