4 Blessed are those you choose
and bring near to live in your courts!
We are filled with the good things of your house,
of your holy temple.
5 You answer us with awesome and righteous deeds,
God our Saviour,
the hope of all the ends of the earth
and of the farthest seas,
6 who formed the mountains by your power,
having armed yourself with strength,
7 who stilled the roaring of the seas,
the roaring of their waves,
and the turmoil of the nations.
8 The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders;
where morning dawns, where evening fades,
you call forth songs of joy.
9 You care for the land and water it;
you enrich it abundantly.
The streams of God are filled with water
to provide the people with grain,
for so you have ordained it.
10 You drench its furrows and level its ridges;
you soften it with showers and bless its crops.
11 You crown the year with your bounty,
and your carts overflow with abundance.
The year 2012 is almost over. I sit back and remember how we started the year. It was a very bleak new year. The only good thing about it was that we had friends over for the period. They took away the bleakness from our lives for the brief period they were around. Life just looked impossible. Our hearts were full of faith that things would change but things were bad.
I look back eleven months later and things are so different now. I am grateful to the Lord for His goodness but that is not what this piece is about. I am looking at the year ending in 55 days and even though life is not bleak like it was at the beginning, there are still things I am holding unto the Lord for.
I kind of feel selfish and spoilt. Am I not asking for too much? Am I not being ungrateful? Look at all that He has done for me and my family already. Then I remember today’s scripture, especially the eleventh verse. It makes provision for me to chuck one in for the year end-to crown my year with His bounty and make my carts to overflow with abundance.
I could not resist sending out this reminder. The year may be coming to an end, but His bounty is not. In fact, we should never stop asking because He never gets tired of meeting our needs. He meets them according to His riches in glory, not according to the world calendar. There is never a time it is not okay to ask Him, even just before the end. He is waiting to hear our requests and meet them.
As I was reading my Bible this morning, is a semi conscious state, I perceived in my spirit, He was giving out slips that had items written on them to people, but mine did not have anything written on it. I asked Him, ‘How come mine is blank?’, He said, ‘Fill it out with what you want’. Immediately I was fully conscious and quickly took out my Bible to fill out what I want. The list is still very long. But the God I wrote it for is also very big. He is not intimidated by the length or the time frame within which I would love for Him to meet me.
These devotionals are about documenting a very crucial time in my life as well as sharing with you, the things God would like to do in our lives. Like I always say He is not a respecter of persons. If he is doing it in my life you can use my story as a point of contact for yourself. Fill out a list and present to Him. He will meet you because He is faithful. He never fails. It is not too late. 55 days is a long time to Him. He can still blow your mind with Hs goodness and abundance towards you. Once again, it is not too late to ask. Ask and be expectant. Ck
